The Ayrton hobby 380 slab roller is designed to facilitate the creation of ceramic plates during amateur ceramic making. The slab roller is, due to its design, an ideal choice for home ceramic workshops with a limited budget. For regular operation in organized ceramic workshops, we recommend choosing one of the higher class models.

Construction

The main cylinder moves over the top board on 4 bearings on each side. This design solution requires high precision of execution. The frame is made of black steel, white coating was chosen as the surface treatment. The top plate is made of smooth waterproof plywood. Theoretically, the maximum manufacturable plate size is 350 x 480 mm. It is recommended to anchor the frame of the rolling mill to the work table using the prepared flanges on two legs. In order to prevent the ceramic material from sticking on the roller when working, a canvas made of synthetic fiber is used, between which kneaded ceramic clay is inserted. One set of canvases is included in the delivery. If you are going to use more colors of ceramic clay, it is advisable to have a separate canvas for each, otherwise the produced slab may be contaminated with a different color. It is also ideal to have at least one set in stock in case a replacement is required.

Thickness adjustment

The height of the main cylinder and thus the thickness of the slab is chosen continuously on each side separately, it is possible to set the height in the range of 0 - 35 mm. Unfortunately, the Ayrton hobby 380 is not equipped with a scale compared to higher class slab rollers, so setting both sides to the same height requires some practice. The handle can be placed optionaly on both sides, according to the preference of the operator. This slab roller cannot be dismounted, as is usual with other table models. In the case of storage, it is therefore necessary to take into account the extra space.
